This week I managed to fit in 3 midweek runs in Hyde Park - a longish one on Monday, some interval training on Wednesday (8 x 400m) and a short one on Friday. Then yesterday I did 4 full laps of Greenwich plus a smaller lap for a total of 9.27 miles. So my training for the half marathon is on target too !

Good progress
3 laps of Dulwich Park today to bring my total for the month to 78.75 - a really good start which puts me ahead of schedule to complete 750 miles this year.

A few country miles
We went to Herefordshire this weekend to celebrate my birthday and Burns night with friends. A beautiful part of the world, and we managed to fit in a nice run around the country lanes and rolling hills.
A couple of laps around Hyde Park during the week brought my total this week to 14.28 miles and my total for the year to just over 55 miles.

Week 2 - Just under 20 miles
A good week - the snow has gone and it's nice to be running on terra firma again.
A couple of lunchtime runs in Hyde Park for 8.64 miles, a quick 3 mile dash around Dulwich in the drizzle yesterday and then 3 full laps and 2 smaller laps at Greenwich today for a total of 8.3 miles.
Sophie and I have signed up for the Milton Keynes Half Marathon on Sunday 7th March, so we'll be aiming to add another mile per week to our long weekend runs between now and then so we're up to full distance by raceday.

Week 1 - 21 miles so far
A new year and a new challenge - to run 750 miles in 2010. The "rules" are the same as last year, namely:
1. Only continuous runs of 1 mile or more, outdoors, count.
2. Distances are measured by plotting my route using this website.
3. Training runs, races, running to the station all count (as long as they're more than a mile).
4. I keep track of all my runs on a log.
5. If I fail to reach the 750 mile target by the end of the year, I pa £1 to charity for every mile short.
In fact the only real differences from last year are the target is 50% higher, and this time I'm not doing it for charity, not through any lack of charitable feelings, rather to give my friends and family a break from the incessant requests for sponsorship.
This week, in spite of the unusually wintry weather in London I managed 3 laps of Hyde Park at lunchtimes during the week (totalling 12 miles), and 6 laps of Dulwich Park today, adding another 6 miles, bring my total for the week/month/year to 18.
To reach 750 by the end of December I need to do around 15 miles per week so this is a good start, particularly in view of the weather which seems to have brought a large part of the UK to a standstill.
